(NDI Article) Cursed hands

Anomaly Class: Solar

Item: S-539

Threat Level: Green

Containment Procedures: S-539 is to be kept in standard containment quarters. S-539 is assigned to medical duty with two escorts and is free to eat among Initiative personnel in the mess hall. The subject however, is not allowed to have any physical contact with  them outside of the medical wing and must always wear gloves during this period.

Description: S-539 is a middle aged Caucasian humanoid of Norwegian descent. Subject is 5.10ft tall and weighs about 213lbs. Numerous tattoos and runic bodily markings in multiple Proto-Norse dialects cover his body. S-539 has been observed to carry a vast wealth of knowledge pertaining to surgical procedures, treating injures, diseases, intense physical trauma and chemical intoxications.

S-539’s anomalous properties is determined by the use of his hands. He was employed by the Initiative after securing him in [REDACTED], Norway, where he was at the time, treating the local populace of a recent epidemic from the [REDACTED] Ebola epidemic, requiring very little medical supplies.

S-539 cannot use his hands naturally as much as he can use them to heal his patients. Touching any healthy living entity can result in contusions and lacerations within the body. It is unclear as to how the subject’s ability to mend wounds and illnesses can also damage a healthy human or animal. It is imperative that S-539 must require gloves. However, the subject is limited based on his reach. In cases of internal organs being damaged, broken bones, infectious diseases or internal lacerations, the subject will attempt to cut the sections of the body before attempting to press his hands in the open incision to repair said wound and cure diseased tissues and infected cells.

Addendum: A close examination of the runes shows that it is a composed alliterative verse in Ljóðaháttr. A rough translation of the runes has been included in the article.

Cut you fool cut, it is as you touch;
how you bare this curse!
For every life you save, every life you kill
for the healthy and the ill.
